Hi David,
It’s now 14 days since my op and I am happy to say that I have been out on the pitch with the England hockey physio down at Bisham Abbey and am expected to take part fully in the next training session which is on Easter Sunday.
Thanks for all your help,
Abi Harper.
Andy had a great result from the lloyd release. ‘I was back training within 10 days and ready to play at 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I was playing so well I did my ankle in!’ I therefore missed out on any opportunity to go to South Africa – but I’lll be back this season hopefully.’
Back playing after 2 weeks
Dean Ryan, England rugby player, now coaching at Gloucester.
Dr. Mackay, the club doctor, said, “Dean made the fastest recovery I have known. He was playing within days.”
Dean actually played three days after surgery. He now believes that all athletes should have this type of surgery and they should all return to their sport within a week. He cannot understand why players take even two weeks to recover following the Lloyd Release Procedure. Many players from Gloucester Rugby Club have now undergone this operation.
George was very keen to return to professional football within a few weeks. He was in the Championship play-offs exactly 14 days after the Lloyd Release Procedure. He has now played for several years without a recurrence of his symptoms. He is clearly very happy with the long-term outcome.
Iain has regained his fitness and performance level following the Lloyd Release Procedure. He had already undergone previous open groin surgery which did not improve his symptoms. Despite the previous scarring he had a successful operation and returned to full training at three weeks. He continues to play rugby at both club and international levels.
Marcus had his surgery more than 5 years ago. He has enjoyed a full recovery for all of this time without a recurrence of his groin pain. He, like many other international players who have had the Lloyd Release Procedure, are testiment to the long term success of this operation.
Matty was training 10 days after surgery but developed a small swelling which delayed his recoverya further 10 days. He was back on top goal scoring form within weeks of surgery. Matty has now moved on to play for Hull City.
Michael had his surgery during his spell at Tottenham. He has risen to international stardom and continues to play without a recurrence of symptoms. We congratulate him on his continuing success.
Shane continues to be a credit to rugby and to Wales. He played just a few weeks after surgery and could have played 14 days after the operation. The only reason for the delay was that he felt he should wait 6 or 8 weeks after the operation which is usual for other types of groin surgery. Once it was explained that there was no restriction whatsoever after a Lloyd’s Release Procedure he was back training and playing for the Ospreys within days. He certainly remains one of the superstars of rugby and we wish him well with his continuing success.
Tim has done very well following the Lloyd Release Procedure. He trained within days and won Bronze at the European Championship 3 weeks after surgery. He is adamant that he could not have returned to the sport at international level without this procedure. He is now representing Great Britain in the Olympics in Beijing. We wish him every success.
